It’s time for a Sprout’s House special this week! Over the last few months, Sprout’s Daddy and I have been enjoying a variety of smoothies for breakfast. With all three of us needing to be showered, dressed and fed in just over an hour, the simplicity and ease of throwing together a smoothie means that Sprout’s Daddy can gulp his down as he heads out the door with Sprout whilst I pour mine into a flask and drink it at school as I check my emails. So here is one of the concoctions we have sampled……..
Ingredients – serves 2
1 or 2 bananas
a handful of strawberries
a handful of blueberries
a dessert spoon of oats
a dessert spoon of chia seeds *The Raw Chocolate Company Organic Chia Seeds
a dessert spoon of flaxseed *Linwoods Org Milled Flaxseed 425g
a dessert spoon of smoothie mix *Superlife Superfood Smoothie Mix
a dessert spoon of bee pollen *BonPom Bee Pollen
500ml milk - rice, coconut, soya, cow’s etc or water can be used too
Pour all the dry ingredients into a jug, add milk and whizz up!
If you have time, and remember (I have never got round to doing this!), soak the oats and chia seeds the night before.
The quantities I have used are guidelines – experiment to see what you like.
The smoothie tastes just as nice without the chia seeds, flaxseed, smoothie mix and bee pollen so don’t feel you have to include them. I add them to give our day a nutritional kick!
